<title>Writer’s Secret</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

<table width="400" border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" align="center">
<a href="" target="_new"><img src="" ></a>

Replace YOUR-ID-HERE with your ID.

Step 3:

When you’re done that, save the page to your hard drive and name it: console58.html

Step 4:

Click here to download the required image to your hard drive. When you click the link, it will open in a new window. Right Click on the image, and choose "Save Picture As" from the drop down menu.

Step 5:

Upload console58.html and the graphic writersecret.gif to your web site server.

Step 6:

Click the HIGHLIGHT ALL button below, then RIGHT CLICK on the hightlighted text, and choose COPY. Then PASTE that text in between the <HEAD> </HEAD> tags on the page you want the pop up window to launch from.

[textbox rows=”3″]

In Dreamweaver, you select Window from the toolbar the HTML. That opens up your page code. If you can’t find the </HEAD> tags, you right click on your mouse, select find and type in head. Make sure that "Find What" is set to html source.

In Front Page, you just click on the html tab. That’s why I like Front Page for beginners. It’s simpler.

Step 7:

Copy the following code from the box below: onload="xit()"

[textbox rows=”1″]onload=”xit()”

Step 8:

Paste the code in the opening BODY tag of your page. The BODY tag immediately follows the closing head tag.

Step 9:

Highlight and copy the following code: onClick="exit=false"

Step 10:

Paste that code on any link or button your page has. That will keep the exit popup from flying open when a link or order button is clicked.

Here are several examples:

This submit button has the following html code:

<input type="SUBMIT" name="submit" value="Submit" onClick="exit=false">

Here is how you paste the code in a link:

Or: <a href="" onclick="exit=false">Click this link</a>

Step 11:

FTP your page to your web host. Go to the URL of the page you put the code on. Click the links you placed the onclick=false code on. They should NOT trigger the popup.

Step 12:

Hit reload or refresh and the exit page should pop up. Then when you click on it, it should take you to the new web site.
